As you know, N.V. Gogol destroyed the second volume of his great book for reasons not entirely clear. However, some manuscripts that make up the second volume, or rather, its fragments that give an idea of the plot of the work, survived by miracle. The Literaguru team briefly described the main events so that the public could enjoy at least these modest information about the fate of the beloved hero.
Barin Andrey Tentetnikov dropped his hands because of unsuccessful reforms. He wastes his time uselessly, stopped all communication with the outside world. His days are inactive, constant laziness. Chichikov comes to him, talks with him, trying to somehow help the hero. Then he goes to General Betrishchev, from whom he is trying to acquire dead souls. During the conversation, Chichikov will invent a story about his uncle, who is engaged in the purchase of dead peasants. When he noticed that the general was laughing and could not believe him, he hastened to leave his house.
Chichikov accidentally finds himself with Peter Petrukh, who is caught naked on a hunt. He meets the landowner Platonov, who tells Chichikov about new earning opportunities. Together with Platonov and Konstantzhglo the hero goes to Kholobuev. Chichikov buys the estate from him, borrowing money from the “attendants”. From a new neighbor, he receives dead souls. This ends the story.
