(272 words) "Asya" - the work of I. S. Turgenev about love and indecision. The narration is in the first person. The author indicated only his initials - N. N. Other central characters are Asya, whose real name is Anna, and her half brother Gagin.
The girl at first sight attracted N.'s attention with her inconstancy: she could be funny, sad, diligent and indecent. The man puzzled for a long time over the reasons for this behavior, but later realized that Asya could not find her place in society because of the “wrong” origin. After that, N. became more condescending to her. Her older brother Gagin, based on the words of the narrator, can be described as a kind, honest, disinterested person, ready for any action for the sake of his beloved sister. Throughout the entire work, the main character gradually fell in love with a chameleon girl, but realized this too late: he pushed away Asya while she was waiting for support, and did not have time to correct the mistake. he was frightened of the 17-year-old girl who confessed his feelings to him and dumped all the blame on her fragile shoulders. With this act, he dropped his authority in the eyes of Asya and the readers. He showed weakness, while he was supposed to become a support or, at least, to behave politely. He was used to men seeking women, and not vice versa, and did not know what to do in such a situation. In my opinion, the narrator did not have the courage to seriously speak with Anna at the right time. His cowardice ruined relationships that were just starting to take shape.
N. was very worried about breaking up with Asya, but quickly recovered. He had other relationships, but he no longer felt such feelings for anyone as for Gagin’s sister. Nothing is known about the fate of the girl and her brother after their departure. he remained a lord because his feelings for Asa turned out to be the strongest in his life.
