Man always needs courage, because even in civilian life there are times when a moral act requires courage and determination. Favorable circumstances do not always surround us, but unfavorable ones need to be overcome, and then courage will be needed. My opinion can easily be confirmed by examples from the literature.
In Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita,” the heroine bravely defends her right to happiness. She accepts the offer of the mysterious stranger Azazello, although she fears for her safety. However, a woman is ready to go to great lengths just to rescue, or at least find her beloved man. The master was forcibly held in a psychiatric hospital after Magarych wrote a denunciation on him and registered in his basement. The hero completely lost faith in himself, lost his home and connection with Margo. But she did not give up hope to regain the lost happiness in love with her chosen one. The heroine held a ball at Satan and, in spite of pain and fear, behaved decorously and nobly, not giving the appearance that fatigue and fear pester her constantly. In the Spring Ball finale, she even spends her desire to help Frida. Then the devil appreciated the courage and mercy of Margarita and rewarded her with eternal peace with the Master alone.
Another example was described by V. Shalamov in the story “The Last Battle of Major Pugachev,” where the hero, after the war, is faced with the need to show courage. For the fact that he was captured by the Nazis, Soviet officials doomed him to hard labor in the camps, accusing the man of treason. Pugachev, unlike them, honestly defended his homeland, it seemed unfair to him what had been done to him. Then he and his comrades take up arms and arrange an escape. Of course, they all perish on the way to freedom, but they do it with honor, not resigned to the barbaric attitude of the authorities towards the defenders of the homeland. For such an act, not just courage is needed, but full-blown, reckless and desperate courage of the driven animal.
Peaceful life can be different: sometimes enemies appear on the path of a person who are no less dangerous than foreign invaders. For a local battle with them, courage is needed, because you need to be able to defend your beliefs in any situation.
