(370 words) In youth circles it is customary to think that resemblance to parents is a person’s lack. Such people are criticized for the lack of independent judgments, because they copy elders in everything and are behind their age. However, I do not think that copying itself is reprehensible. Good traits can and should be borrowed, but bad qualities cannot be adopted under any guise. Therefore, I consider it a drawback only to blindly imitate the generation of fathers. To clarify my point of view, I will give examples from the literature.
In his play “Woe from Wit”, A. S. Griboedov described the fate of the hero, who imitated his father in everything. Molchalin learned everything from the old man, even adopted bad qualities: toadness, the ability to please the bosses, obsession with career and reverence. The young man was ready to "bend forward" to get a profitable position. So, he pretended to be in love with the daughter of the boss, and he secretly courted her servant. The hero did not respect himself and his desires at all, because the measure of significance for him was money, which he did not have. As we see, Chatsky ridiculed Molchalin for this insignificance, because it was ridiculous for a young man to watch his peer repeat the Famus society in everything. Of course, such behavior of the young secretary is a disadvantage, not a virtue, because he blindly imitates fathers without filtering their vices.
In the novel “Oblomov” by I. A. Goncharov, the hero is very similar to his father: he grew up as an active, active and enterprising person. In addition, Andrew inherited the mother’s cultural manners and her knowledge of art. Of course, the old man Stolz applied tough educational measures so that his heir was a worthy successor of the family. He sent the young man to the capital and did not provide any support so that he himself achieved everything and tempered his character. As a result, Andrey really made himself, becoming a successful entrepreneur without the patronage of his father and start-up capital. It actually became a copy of Stolz Sr., who once also achieved everything himself. The son even repeated the personal life of the parent, marrying a creative and educated girl gifted with various talents. I believe that this similarity is the hero’s merit, because he took the best features from his father.
Thus, resemblance to parents can be both a virtue and a disadvantage. If the child absorbs only the good features of the father and mother, then such imitation should be evaluated positively. If he blindly imitates everything that he sees in the older generation, then he can only be condemned, because he contributes to the stagnation of the whole country, since he repeats the mistakes of his ancestors.
